2026 LB Samu Moala Raves About Notre Dame Visit

2026 Leuzinger (Calif.) linebacker Samu Moala‍ made his first trip to Notre Dame this week, spending a couple of days in South Bend.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder didn’t have too much background on Notre Dame entering his visit, but he quickly found out what the university had to offer.

“I was amazed,” Moala told ISD. “I didn't know too much about Notre Dame when I came over there. Right when I got there, I was amazed at the atmosphere of Notre Dame football and the education.”

Moala had hoped to stay for Saturday’s practice, but scheduling prevented it. Notre Dame made sure to show him everything he needed as Marcus Freeman, Al Golden and Max Bullough made lasting impressions.

“They are great coaches,” said Moala, who was offered last month. “They know how to explain things well. I could see myself getting coached by them. They are just good people. They like me a lot and I like them a lot - and I like Notre Dame a lot.

“They were giving me tips on how to become a better athlete and football player. The staff challenged me on why I should choose Notre Dame. I was just amazed when I left and I have the same feeling right now about Notre Dame.”

The meeting with Bullough was a significant part of the visit as they watched film and Moala received some coaching points from Notre Dame’s new linebacker coach.

But it was Bullough’s personality and love for football that impressed Moala the most.

“He watched my film, gave me tips and we were watching Notre Dame’s practice film,” Moala explained. “I could tell football is important to him. When he’s on the football field, he’s energetic and it’s time to go. When you sit down with him and talk with him, he’s a loving guy and wants to see you at your best and will be there for you.”

Notre Dame GM Chad Bowden also spent quality time with Moala during the visit.

“That’s my guy right there,” laughed Moala. “He’s energetic. He’s just a high-level guy. He talked to me about why I should choose Notre Dame. I loved his presentation and I love who he is as a person. That’s just my guy.”

Leuzinger High School is about 20 minutes west of St. John Bosco, the home of Notre Dame early enrollee linebacker Kyngstonn Villiamu-Asa.

Moala was well aware that Villiamu-Asa chose Notre Dame, and that was one reason he wanted to get to South Bend.

“Seeing him come to Notre Dame, I had to see why he committed to Notre Dame,” Moala stated. “Now, I see why he committed to Notre Dame. They have the resources and everything for him to be great.”

As for a return trip, Moala believes that could happen soon.

“I’ll be back this summer for sure,” said Moala.
