Elite 2025 OL Josh Petty Ready To See Notre Dame

April 15, 2024

Notre Dame’s persistence - along with the opportunities the University can offer off the field - have the Irish in the running for Josh Petty‍, one of the nation’s top offensive linemen in the Class of 2025.

The Fellowship Christian School star is set to begin official visits at the end of next month, but before he does so, he’s going to take one more unofficial visit, to South Bend on Wednesday.

“Academics for sure,” the 6-foot-5, 265-pounder said of what interests him about Notre Dame. “The academics are the thing that stuck out to me.

“I know how important that Notre Dame degree is and what that'll do for me as well as Coach (Joe) Rudolph. He actually was my second offer when he was at Virginia Tech and made a great impression and just has continued to excel with what he's done and the linemen he's brought in. I talked to a couple of his guys about him and they seem to really care about him.”

The message from the Irish to this point has been a simple one.

“Just selling me on the school, telling me how great it is,” said Petty. “Talking about the degree, the academics part of it as well as the football and just how they're a school that does it all and not a lot of schools can say that.”

Petty is looking forward to seeing it for himself.

“I want to see campus, just see things around campus, see what it's like, see the facilities, see the players, talk to more coaches, just get a better feel for the program,” he explained. “I've never been up there, so it's going to be my first impression.”

He’s had a busy couple months.

“We've kind of been all over,” he said. “FSU, Clemson, Auburn, Georgia, Texas, Stanford. We've been a little bit everywhere.”

He’s locked in four official visits so far; Clemson (May 31st), Auburn (June 7th), Oregon (June 14th) and Stanford (June 21st).

If things go well this week in South Bend, Notre Dame could be added to the list.

This visit will be crucial as Petty plans to have a decision “before the season starts.”
