Notre Dame Lands Princeton Grad Transfer Matt Allocco

Notre Dame basketball added a key piece to the 2024-25 roster on Wednesday as Princeton graduate transfer Matt Allocco announced his commitment to Micah Shrewsberry. 

The 6-foot-4, 197-pounder will immediately bolster Notre Dame's shooting and that includes the three-ball. In three seasons at Princeton, Allocoo shot 41.2 percent from deep and 50.8 percent from the field. Last season, Allocco hit 42.7 percent of his threes while averaging 12.7 ppg. 

Notre Dame finished No. 13 in the ACC in three-point shooting at 31.8 percent in 2023-24. 

As a senior, Allocco scored in double-figures in 20 contests and was named Second Team All-Ivy League in 2023 and 2024. Allocco also shot 90.9 percent from the free throw line last season, which was the highest in program history. 

The Hillard (Ohio) native also was the eighth player in Princeton history to shoot at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 90 percent from the foul line while playing at least 30 minutes per game. 

On paper, Allocco will form what is expected to be a very efficient three-point shooting team in 2024-25. Sophomore Braeden Shrewsberry shot 37.1 percent from three as a freshman but upped his percentage by almost 10 percent over the season. June enrollee Cole Certa has been tabbed the best shooter in the country by the Irish staff, so adding Allocco’s experience and production will ideally make the Irish even more dangerous behind the arc.
