Notre Dame Blue-Gold Game Draft Results
Notre Dame held its Blue-Gold Game draft on Thursday morning.
Head coaches Al Washington (Blue) and Deland McCullough (Gold), with the help of several Irish veterans, picked their teams and then proceeded to work some deals following the draft.
The quarterback position was first off the board as Steve Angeli was the No. 1 overall pick, Kenny Minchey the No. 2 pick and early enrollee freshman CJ Carr will play for both teams.
One trade was made as the the Blue team traded linebacker/nickel Jaiden Ausberry to the Gold for linebacker Jaylen Sneed.
And yes, there was some trash talk between the two head coaches following the draft.
"I just want to say really excited about our team,” stated Washington. “It's great to do all this and compete together. Nothing is more important than the team, but what we've got to do out there is represent what Blue is all about. That's toughness, consistency and whatever other positive adjective you want to put on it. That's what we are about, you understand?"
McCullough was ready in a timely fashion to counter Washington and kept it short.
"We're not going to be dealing in adjectives,” said McCullough. “We're going to be dealing in verbs. Straight ******* action."
Notre Dame will also honor cornerback Jaden Mickey’s late mother, Nilka, who lost her battle with colon cancer in December. The team will wear purple shirts with the traditional ND logo on the front and Romans 15:13 will be on the back.
Kickoff for the Blue-Gold Game is set for Saturday at 1:00 PM ET on Peacock.
*Note: Notre Dame will send an official roster of the two teams later today after the coaches make final calls, so this is the draft order.
