Nicholas Reddish‍ and his family had high expectations coming into their first trip to Notre Dame this weekend.

They were met.

“It was actually awesome,” the 2026 North Carolina safety told Irish Sports Daily. “It was great.”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder was in town for the Irish’s annual Blue-Gold Game.

“We went to see the spring game,” he said. “We talked to some alumni from Notre Dame. It was awesome. We talked about the education and the football there.”

The Independence High School standout enjoyed the spring game.

“It was great,” he said. “I saw some good turnovers, some good plays, flying around all that.”

Reddish landed an offer from Notre Dame during the Irish’s Pot of Gold Day push on St. Patrick’s Day. He also has offers from Wake Forest and Missouri among others.

While in town, he spoke with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive backs coach Mike Mickens.

“They didn't even really talk about football as much,” Reddish explained. “They were more like,  'The education here is awesome,' and talking about what they had for us after the years of football was over.”

That message hit home with the Charlotte native.

“It was unbelievable knowing that I'll be set for the rest of my life with that education from Notre Dame and just how the football will be good and the education will be good,” he said.

Reddish was also impressed with the coaches as people.

“They were genuine, nice guys,” he said. “I figured that they were going to be like that, but they were great.”

Reddish doesn’t have any other visits locked in, but intends to get back to South Bend, possibly this summer.

“I'm definitely going to try to come back and visit and talk again and keep a close relationship with them.”
