2025 WR Talyn Taylor In-Depth on Recruitment & Official Visit Schedule

2025 Geneva Community (Ill.) receiver Talyn Taylor‍ made his way over to Canton for Sunday’s Under Armour Camp and it was the first camp the four-star had done in quite some time. 

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder will be the first to tell you his day was up and down, but Taylor also flashed what makes him a national prospect with his speed and ability to out of his breaks with ease. 

“It was good competing against kids my caliber,” Taylor said. “One thing I got out of it was I have to grind more on my craft. I have to keep my head down and grind more. That’s what I have to do.” 

There was definitely a target on Taylor’s back on Sunday, as he was the top-ranked receiver at camp, and the other campers were well aware of it. 

That said, Taylor will get to work, but he’ll also have a big month of official visits in the near future. The Geneva Community star has set three official visits and more could be added once June’s schedule becomes a little more clear. 

“I have Georgia scheduled on May 31st,” said Taylor. “June 14th weekend is my Notre Dame official visit, and June 21st, I have an Ohio State visit. Those are the three planned right now. Me and mom are still going through our schedule. She is coaching in her softball season, so our schedule is pretty heavy.” 

Taylor used unofficial visits this spring to narrow down his recruitment. And like most recruits, the official visits will be used to figure out where he wants to attend college as he wants to end his process shortly after this round of visits. 

“Probably right after the officials are over, if I’m being serious,” Taylor stated. “I’m thinking about making my decision at the end of July, but before the season for sure.” 

Part of the decision making process will be asking the hard questions to what could be his future teammates. Taylor wants to build a rapport with other players in his class, but also find out what it’s really like at each school from those in the program.

“I’m looking to hang out with the commits there and see how we bond together and how the team bonds together. I’m going to ask the players how they really like it or interpret this school. I’m going to ask them the real questions and make sure I really want to go there.” 

As for what he’s looking for in a program, Taylor hasn’t really changed his mind on his key factors over the course of his recruitment. Taylor has always emphasized a shot to play early and development were important marks for him as it relates to football. 

“I’m definitely looking for development,” explained Taylor. “I want to go somewhere that I can try get an opportunity to early to play because the sooner, the better, in my opinion. I definitely want stable coaching and somewhere that’s not rocky.” 

Taylor has been a frequent visitor to Notre Dame over the last eight months. In fact, Taylor has made four trips to South Bend, including two this offseason and the latest coming earlier this month when he attended a Notre Dame practice. 

“It was different because it was actually a spring practice,” stated Taylor. “Watching them in their new offensive scheme and the new OC, Coach Denbrock, he’s great. He likes to throw that thing.”

Notre Dame has shown him essentially everything it can, but Taylor wants to experience 48 hours with the offensive commits headed to South Bend. 

“It’s going to be important for me to make the trip because there will be 2025 commits there,” Taylor said. “I only really saw Deuce Knight and I haven’t seen the rest of the commit there. The OV feels different than regular visits.” 

Ohio State’s track record of development isn’t lost on Taylor. There is no coach who has developed more NFL receivers than Brian Hartline and he views Taylor as someone who fits best outside, but can also play inside. 

Denbrock plans to use Taylor in a similar way. 

“He showed me on video plays he ran previously. He showed me my high school plays and compared them to college and NFL plays. They were the exact same. He told me I could be that and I believe it.” 

Taylor, who has also lived in the South, is well aware of the emphasis Notre Dame has put on the Chicagoland area in recent years. While it’s not going to make or break this recruitment, Taylor knows Notre Dame will try to keep him close to home. 

“I definitely know they try to keep their Midwest guys in the Midwest,” said Taylor. “For me, a good thing because I know they are going to try to keep me in the Midwest.”
