Notre Dame Will Open 2024 Season in Primetime at Texas A&M

The opening weekend of college football is always special, and for Notre Dame, it means another primetime matchup on the road.

Notre Dame will experience the Texas A&M circus to open the 2024 campaign as the programs will meet at 7:30 PM ET on ABC.

The clash has been set for years, but in true Notre Dame fashion, it will be the fourth year in a row the Irish will start the season away from home in primetime. Florida State and Ohio State hosted the Irish in 2021 and 2022 before Notre Dame opened the season in Ireland last fall.

Notre Dame also started the 2019 and 2016 seasons on the road at Louisville and Texas, which is a feat not many programs can claim.

The weekend will be filled with opportunities for both fanbases to soak in Texas A&M's unique culture, from the midnight yell to College Game Day being on campus to open the season.

“We are extremely pleased that ESPN’s College GameDay, as well as the ABC prime time game, will feature Texas A&M and Coach Mike Elko,” Texas A&M Athletics Director Trev Alberts stated. “Our game with Notre Dame will be a great way to open our regular season.”

This will be the sixth time the programs meet with Notre Dame holding a 3-2 series lead. The Aggies won the last meeting 24-3 in 2001, after Notre Dame won the 2000 matchup 24-10.
