Notre Dame Lands Grad Transfer Big Man Nikita Konstantynovskyi

Notre Dame and Micah Shrewsberry have added a key piece to its 2024 roster as Monmouth graduate transfer Nikita Konstantynovskyi has committed to the Fighting Irish.

The 6-foot-10, 245-pounder averaged 9.3 ppg and 8.1 rpg in 2023-24 for Monmouth after starting his career at Tulsa where he appeared in 29 games with nine starts at power forward. 

Konstantynovskyi, a native of Kyiv, Ukraine, missed much of the 2022-23 campaign with an injury after averaging 2.0 ppg and 2.7 rpg for Tulsa in 2021-22. Prior to his stop at Tulsa, Konstantynovskyi spent two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. 

In his final season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Konstantynovskyi averaged 11.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg in 21 games and ranked second in NJCAA in field goal percentage a 60.2 percent. 

During his year with the Monmouth program, Konstantynovskyi shot 52.6 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from the free throw line. in 62 career games, he has attempted just one three-pointer. 

Konstantynovskyi also scored in double figures 13 times and recorded a double-double in six games, including an impressive game against Stonybrook where he scored 22 points and pulled down 20 boards. Konstantynovskyi also reached double-digit rebounds nine times last season. 

Notre Dame topped Ole Miss for Konstantynovskyi's commitment, but several other programs, including BYU, Clemson, Indiana, Stanford, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt were involved with the power forward. 

Konstantynovskyi joins guard Matt Allocco in Notre Dame’s Transfer Portal haul. The two faced off against each other last November where Princeton won 82-57. Konstantynovskyi scored two points and pulled down eight boards, while Allocco scored 19 points, including 4-for-5 from deep.
