2026 In-State Safety Deacon King Preparing for Busy Weekend with Track and Notre Dame Camp
2026 Westfield (Ind.) safety Deacon King will be one of the top in-state prospects at Notre Dame this weekend for Irish Invasion.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder enters this weekend with five offers and has caught the eye of several coaches after an impressive Under Armour Camp in Ohio last month.
“I’m excited to be there,” King told ISD. “I went there last year for a regular prospects camp and it was really. I really like the atmosphere.”
“I’m also going to Purdue, Michigan and the UIndy Mega Camp.”
It’ll be a busy weekend for King. On Saturday, he will be running in the Indiana State Track Meet as part of a Westfield relay team, which ran 42.30 last weekend in the 4x100.
“For the meet, we don’t have any individual events for our team,” King said. “We have the 4x100 that made it. I think we’ll do pretty well.”
As for the camp, King won’t be able to show off one of his best strengths on the field, but he’s hoping to show improvement when it comes to coverage.
“Tackling is probably my best strength right now,” explained King. “I’m focused on improving covering deeper routes as well as my man coverage.”
While King hopes to impress the staff, the Indiana native is also excited to learn from Notre Dame’s coaches and continue to build a relationship with them.
“It’s really good to develop a relationship with the position coaches as well as the head coaches,” King said of the advantages of camping at a school. “Going to the camps really strengthens that.”
Notre Dame has been in contact with King over the last few months, but he hopes that contact will increase following the Irish Invasion. The Irish staff has been by Westfield High School, and that meant the world to King and the program.
“It means a lot,” stated King. “Any coach coming to the school means a lot to me as well as the team. It’s big when Notre Dame comes.”
And if he were to earn an offer from Notre Dame, it would be a significant moment for King, who will also camp at Michigan, Purdue and the mega camp at the University of Indianapolis.
“It would mean a lot to me,” said King. “My parents like it up there. I really like the campus. I think it’d be a big offer for me.”
Offers: Akron, Central Michigan, Purdue, Toledo and Western Michigan
