2027 QB Zac Katz Loves Notre Dame Experience

Zac Katz‍ came into this weekend’s trip to Notre Dame for Irish Invasion with some high expectations.

They were certainly met.

“It was a great camp, great environment,” the 2027 Florida quarterback said afterward. “Coach Gino (Guidugli) was awesome, great coach. Treated me with kindness and brought me in there and gave me some good work. So it was very good.

“I think I performed good in one-on-ones, but overall I felt like I did really good. Obviously still being young, I've got lots to improve, but I felt like I did really good.”

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder already has offers from schools like Miami, Louisville and Ole Miss among others.

He’s been particularly impressed with Guidugli.

“Honestly, he was just being a great coach, telling me what I need to work on, what I'm doing really good at,” said Katz. “He helped me with that today and I'm going to implement that into my everyday craft.”

The Chaminade-Madonna Prep standout also enjoyed getting to work with a pair of Irish commits, 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight and 2026 signal-caller Noah Grubbs.

“It was great, honestly, just learning from them,” he said. “They're obviously a lot older, committed to Notre Dame, a big-time school, so I know what I've got to be like learning from them. I take that back and put it into my everyday craft.”

Katz had a chance to look around campus before the camp and was thoroughly impressed.

“It's beautiful, man,” he said. “This is the best campus I've ever been to. I've been to lots of school too. Michigan was nice, but I don't think I could see anything that tops this. This is beautiful, amazing. My parents loved it.”

Katz knows the Irish won’t rush the process.

“They still haven't offered any 27s of course,” he said. “They still want to see our sophomore season, but honestly, I'm excited. I really can see a future here.

“Obviously (Notre Dame) is a great program, always been a great school too, which is very big. Academics are a great thing for me.”

Katz has a couple more camps this summer, including Mississippi State next weekend, but doesn’t expect to hit too many schools, instead choosing to focus on improving his game as much as possible.

That being said, he expects to return to South Bend multiple times in the future.

“I'm going to be down here a lot. I'm going to try and get down here a lot.”
