2026 OL Carter Scruggs Enjoys Another Notre Dame Visit
After visiting Notre Dame back in March, Carter Scruggs was excited to return for Irish Invasion this past weekend.
“It went really well,” the 2026 Virginia offensive lineman said afterward.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pounder was happy with his performance.
“I thought I did really well with being explosive,” he said. “I wasn't able to do most stuff just because I'm recovering from shoulder surgery right now, so I wasn't able to compete in the one-on-ones and some drills that require hitting, but I mean, with what I was able to do, I thought I did a really good job at.”
The Loudoun County High School standout is four months removed from the surgery.
“I'm just getting back into things,” he said. “It was definitely difficult at first, but I've grown to get used to it and I've been training. I've been able to train for the past two months.”
Scruggs has an impressive offer sheet that includes schools like Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Penn State and Michigan State among others.
He felt the Irish were impressed with his athleticism and attitude.
“They really loved how I moved,” he said. “They love how competitive I am, even though I can't compete right now.”
Scruggs was grateful for the chance to work with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
“He's awesome,” said Scruggs. “ He knows his stuff. He's one of the best out there.”
He didn’t take a full tour of campus this time, but did on his previous visit.
After a couple visits within a couple months, Scruggs wants to return.
“I definitely want to come back,” he said. “I think I want to come back for a game, that would be awesome.”
Next up though are trips to Clemson, Penn State and Michigan.
