Gregory Patrick‍ was back in South Bend on Tuesday and the top 2026 Michigan offensive lineman enjoyed getting to learn more about Notre Dame and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.

“We went around campus for a little bit,” the Portage Northern High School standout said. “I talked to Coach Rudolph for a while. We watched some film, watched him coach for a little bit, just doing some small pass stuff.

“I really liked the way he coaches. I think he is probably one of the best coaches in the country. He's a really good guy, really good coach. The stuff that he does is really good. I really enjoy watching him coach.”

The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder has an impressive offer sheet that includes Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Alabama along with several others.

Rudolph has made it clear he likes what Patrick brings on and off the field.

“He really enjoys me as a player, just my overall skill set,” Patrick said of Rudolph. “I think he really enjoys my character also. That's something that Notre Dame looks for in their recruiting. They're really looking at the character.

“I think he really enjoys me as a person too. I take care of my business off the field, so he likes that a lot.”

Patrick was also able to speak with head coach Marcus Freeman during the visit.

“We just talked about life in general,” he said. “How his coaching has been lately, and kind of his story too, what it's like for him to be a coach and how he plans to lead the program.

“I really enjoy him. Just talking to him in general, I think he's a really, really good person. A lot of coaches say they genuinely care about their players. I think he's really about that; just how he is as a leader, just every aspect about him, it's pretty cool.”

Patrick was at Ohio State earlier in the week and will finish the weekend down at Alabama.

He’s hoping to return to South Bend later this year.

“Probably see what days they have for visits,” he said. “Try to get back down, hang out with a coach a little bit more and maybe do a little workout if they’re available.

“Probably just keep visiting, keep checking it out, see where it goes from there.”
