2019 Alabama QB Recaps ND Visit
After getting up to see Chip Long, Tommy Rees and Notre Dame earlier this month, Paul Tyson is hoping to see the Irish staff down at his school in the coming weeks.
The 2019 Alabama quarterback was very impressed with his trip to South Bend last weekend.
“It was great,” the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder from Hewitt-Trussville High School said. “I loved getting to just see the campus, see Coach Long again and meet Coach Rees.”
Tyson liked what he saw from the campus in South Bend.
“It was very nice,” he said. “I liked how it was kind of close together, but had real big buildings and fit all together. All of the buildings looked alike and I really liked it.”
Tyson was also excited to reconnect with Long.
“It was great getting to see him since I last saw him at Memphis,” the sophomore quarterback said. “With him being up there now, it was great getting to see him again, talk offense and I just like what he’s doing up there.
“We got to run down how he’s going to roll this year with the offense and stuff. We went through the scrimmage they had and got to go to their practice, it was just a good experience.”
It was Tyson’s first chance at meeting Rees, the Irish’s new quarterbacks coach.
“He was a very good guy,” Tyson said of Rees. “It was just great getting to meet him because he was actually a player at Notre Dame. It was cool to see that he was a player and went on to being quarterback coach after his career.”
Tyson also enjoyed seeing the Irish’s practice.
“I really liked the scrimmage, but it was just a great practice,” he said. “I just thought they really started killing it on offense during the scrimmage that we watched.”
That’s it for visits for now for Tyson, who is also receiving interest from schools like Alabama, Clemson and Mississippi State.
“Just Hewitt-Trussville Football,” he said of his plans for the immediate future. “We start up spring in (a couple) weeks.
“Coach Long should be coming down for spring practice to watch our team compete and hopefully I’ll get to see him down there. That’s really what’s next.”
