By the end of his sophomore season at Bergen Catholic, 2026 New Jersey cornerback Jordan Thomas‍ had cemented his reputation as one of the top young prospects in the Garden State.

Coming into his junior season, Thomas and his Crusader teammates are looking to continue the tradition that the perennial power has set for years.

“The outlook for this season is just to dominate,” says Thomas. “The standard is to dominate and just to be the best at everything that we do.”

Bergen Catholic will get the chance to prove it isn’t just one of the best teams in the state of New Jersey, but in the entire country right off the bat as it opens up with independent games against IMG Academy and Ohio’s Massillon High School.

Thomas is certainly excited for the challenge.

“I definitely have improved in all aspects of my game,” the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder says. “I've definitely gotten stronger. I've gotten faster. My intelligence on the field has definitely gotten better, and I've been doing a lot of homework, as I would say, on just the skill in general; knowing why I do certain moves, why I drop back in Cover 3, why I high to low in Cover 2. So just my intelligence, I would say, and just having a natural and better feel for the game

“I can't wait. I'm very excited to just show the work that I've been putting into this offseason. I can't wait.”

Thomas has put together an impressive offer sheet that includes schools like Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Texas A&M among several others.

Thomas says he’s remained “consistently” in communication with the Irish, speaking with defensive backs coach Mike Mickens, defensive coordinator Al Golden as well as head coach Marcus Freeman.

“Honestly, they've just been painting the picture of what Notre Dame is,” says Thomas. “It's the best of both worlds academically and athletically. They've been showing me what it is to be part of the Fighting Irish.”

Thomas visited South Bend a couple years ago, and said he wants to return soon.

“Of course,” he says. “We're thinking about coming up to one of their games. It's not set in stone as of right now, but we're really thinking about it.

“Honestly, I would just like to see dominance and I would like to see a great game.”

There’s a chance he could be in College Station when the Irish open up the season against Texas A&M on Aug. 31.

“That could be an option,” he says. “We're thinking about that.”

It’s early in the process for Thomas, who is also considering stops at several schools this fall, including Ohio State, Michigan, Florida and Alabama among others.

“We're just trying to see it all to be honest, but there's only so many places that we can get to,” he says.

Thomas doesn’t have a timeline for a final decision or even to narrow his list, but he’s long held Notre Dame in high regard and we expect that to continue being the case.
