Coach | Notre Dame S Commit JaDon Blair Prepared For Big Season
When JaDon Blair announced his commitment to Notre Dame back in July, his head coach at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem, N.C., promised that the 2025 safety’s best days were ahead of him.
Tiesuan Brown hasn’t wavered on that take at all as Blair’s senior season arrives.
“You're going to see him on the offensive side of the ball a lot more this year,” says Brown. “In our first scrimmage, he did very well at receiver. He's a big target.
“The same thing on defense, man. He's been all around. He's getting to the ball, deflecting passes, picking it off. He's stepped this game up, his weight. He's a lot more mature about the game, his film study has picked up. We're expecting huge things out of him this year. Huge.”
The increased time in the film and knowledge of the game is going to make a great player even better, according to Brown.
“It just makes him play faster,” the coach says. “We had a scrimmage (last week) and we only had a little bit of film on the team, but he was calling out plays before they happened. That helps his other teammates.
“He elevates his game, which elevates them. Like I said, on offense man, he's been very impressive. I think he's just as dangerous on offense.”
The idea behind using Blair on offense isn’t exactly a revolutionary one.
“This dude is 6-5, diesel and he's fast,” Brown laughs.
“He can catch a hitch and make a guy miss and take it to the house.”
One thing that won’t be much different regarding Blair’s game as a senior is in the leadership department.
“He's been the leader for two years,” says Brown. “He is the leader.
“All the guys look up to him, not just his stature. He speaks well. He leads by example. He comes to practice every day with that winning mentality. He challenges the other players to step their level of play up.
“He's just that guy, man.”
