Slimmed Down Notre Dame DT Commit Davion Dixon Heading Into Senior Season

Davion Dixon‍ is looking forward to his senior season at Miami (Fla.) Palmetto.

“I think our team is going to be pretty good this year,” the 2025 Notre Dame defensive tackle commit says. “I think we'll be better than last year. We went 9-2 last year, but I think we can do better. I think we can go 10-1, maybe undefeated. Hopefully we can go to the state championship.”

The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder believes his team will be able to achieve its goals if both sides of the ball take care of business.

“I just think our offense has to just move the ball and score touchdowns,” he says. “Defensively, we have to get stops when we need to get stops. We'll get turnovers when we need to get turnovers; so the offense scoring touchdowns and us just stop opposing offenses.”

Dixon is slimmer and quicker this season.

“Last year, I was 320,” he says. “I've been dropping weight so I can get faster off the ball. I think that's what I was lacking last year with compared to this year.”

It may have simple, but it wasn’t easy.

“I was just eating better, training more, running more, speed training to build explosiveness,” he says. “It was pretty hot in the sun over here.”

But he’s glad he did it.

“It was worth it though,” says Dixon.

“I can definitely feel it, more power too.”

Dixon is prepared to face opponents trying to prove themselves against him.

“Every week, every season, every team tries to comes at me and we stop them or I stop them,” he says. “It's another day for me, basically. 

“I've got to prove to these people that I'm better, that I'm going to Notre Dame for a reason, so I'm just working every day.”

Dixon plans on returning to South Bend soon.

“The first home game for sure,” he says of when he’ll return to Notre Dame for another visit.

“It's going to be pretty amazing. I'm going to be excited and stoked just thinking about it, making sure I'm going to be in the same position as those players. I'm just happy and just waiting for my time to come.”
