2026 LB Karsten Busch Looking To Learn More About Notre Dame
Karsten Busch isn’t sure how the Irish found out about him, but the 2026 Kentucky linebacker is glad they did and is excited to head to South Bend for this weekend’s home opener.
“Notre Dame recruiters just found me somewhere and then I got an invite from Carter (Auman),” said Busch. “He just said, ‘We'd like you to come out.’ Then I requested tickets, so I'll be there.”
The 6-foot-2, 219-pounder currently has offers from Wisconsin, Kentucky, Purdue, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Louisville and Bucknell.
“It's a great feeling for me, but I try not to think about it too much,” the St. Xavier standout said. “The offers don't really matter until I really get to college.”
While communication with the Irish is new, his initial feelings are overwhelmingly positive.
“I think it's just impressive how high academic standards Notre Dame has,” he said. “Also, they have a great football program and other great programs like lacrosse. That's what catches my eye with Notre Dame.”
Busch toured campus years ago with his brother, but doesn’t remember everything.
“Obviously, I'm just looking to learn more and learn all I can about it,” he said. “I saw most of the school academic side when I went there, so I want to see the athletics and what they're all about and what their culture is.”
He’s got a few other trips in mind this fall.
“I plan to go to Kentucky the week after this upcoming weekend,” he said. “That's the only one that is scheduled. I hope to get out to Wisconsin and I know I've recently been discovered by Ohio State, so I'm going to try to get there too.”
Busch has received positive feedback from college coaches regarding his season already.
“Last year, it was just how physical I was and how quick my reads were. This year, now that I've gotten a little bit of film, they really like how fast I close space and how fast I move around. I've gotten texts about it and people have already said it after just two games.”
