2026 TE PJ MacFarlane Has Family Connections To Notre Dame
PJ MacFarlane has caught the attention of several college programs, which is why the 2026 Ohio tight end already has five scholarship offers.
The Lakota East standout has also caught the attention of other schools, including Notre Dame, which is why he’ll be in South Bend on Saturday for the Irish’s home opener.
“I got a Twitter DM from a recruiting guy who asked me to get up there,” the 6-foot-5, 208-pounder said. “I've been up there for a camp before and liked everything, so I wanted to get back and check it out.
“I just want to make a good impression on the coaches. I want them to recognize me and see if I can build a better relationship with these coaches.”
MacFarlane currently has offers from Michigan State, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami-Ohio and Toledo.
“It's just really a blessing to have what God has given me and I just want to do everything I can with it to have no regrets later on in life,” he said. “It's just really awesome that I can go to all these schools and check out all these programs and watch all these games. It's been a great experience.”
MacFarlane has some Notre Dame connections in his family.
“My aunt and my uncle went there, so we cheer them on all the time,” he said. “My uncle played tennis for Notre Dame and our friends also went there and were football players, so we like to watch Notre Dame Football.”
And, he liked what he saw in South Bend when he camped there.
“It's just a really nice campus,” he said. “I'm a Catholic, so before camp we went to Mass at the Basilica, which is great. That was beautiful.
“And then camp was cool as well. It was well run. The coaches were great. They were really nice and knew a lot about the game. It was a really nice place. I got to see the field, so that was pretty sweet. The locker room was awesome.”
He’ll be busy this fall.
“I've got gameday visits pretty much every Saturday lined up, so it'll be fun. I went to Indiana last week, go to Notre Dame this weekend. I'm looking to get up to Kentucky and Michigan State, definitely. And maybe some other schools like Miami-Ohio, Toledo, West Virginia or Pitt.”
