Notre Dame Jumps To Top For 2025 WR Antavious Richardson
Notre Dame was confident it would impress Antavious Richardson during his official visit to South Bend this weekend and people close to the 2025 Georgia athlete were equally confident.
They were all right.
“Everything went great,” the Greenville High School star told Irish Sports Daily on Sunday.
“I got to tour the campus and meet the players, talk to the head coach, talk to the position coaches. I got a chance to bond with the players and coaches as well.”
The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is committed to South Florida, but for the past month has been offered and pursued seriously by top programs like Notre Dame, Alabama and North Carolina among others.
He was impressed with his time in South Bend this weekend.
“Campus was great,” he said. “Even the people that I didn't know, they were very nice.”
Richardson had the chance to spend time with several current players on the roster and felt he would fit in well with all of them.
He also appreciated his conversations with head coach Marcus Freeman.
“It was great talking to him, hearing how bad he wants me,” said Richardson. “He was basically telling me why there was no better place than Notre Dame to go to.
“It feels great to see somebody have such passion for you and not just in football, he wants you to succeed in life outside of football. It felt great.”
That life outside of football piece is one reason Notre Dame was able to grab Richardson’s attention since offering last month.
“Their degree is a high degree,” he said. “If you say ‘Notre Dame,’ it'll take you a long way. That's why I like about Notre Dame outside of life, it'll prepare you for the better if football doesn't work out.”
Richardson plays quarterback for his high school squad, just one similarity he has with Irish receivers coach Mike Brown.
“He kind grew up in the the same situation, small town, playing a different position in high school and ending up playing something else college,” Richardson said of Brown. “We have our similarities. It was great talking to him.”
He also enjoyed the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium for the Irish’s 28-3 win over Miami-Ohio.
“It was great,” he said. I loved it.”
Richardson had previously taken unofficial visits to Alabama and North Carolina and has plans to be back in Tuscaloosa next week and possibly Chapel Hill in November.
But the Irish have set the bar for now.
“They're like my number one choice as of right now. I've still got other places to go, but as of right now, they're my top choice.”
