Davion Dixon‍ returned to Notre Dame once again for last weekend’s game against Louisville and once again, the 2025 Irish defensive tackle commit left impressed.

“It was amazing,” Dixon told Irish Sports Daily. “I saw some familiar faces and I was just having a good time with the coaches and my family and the commits. Overall, it was pretty good.”

Getting the chance to reconnect with his future teammates was one of the highlights of the visit for the Miami Palmetto standout.

“It's amazing,” he said. “Every time you go up, you build a closer bond with each other. Every time, we talk about something new and something that we can relate about, so it's pretty amazing.”

Dixon was also once again impressed with his conversations with future coaches Marcus Freeman and Al Washington.

“I talked to Coach Free and Coach Wash,” he said. “We were chatting before the game. Coach Wash was happy I went up there and he got to see me. It's been a while, so he was pretty happy.”

And, Dixon was impressed with the Irish’s performance during their 31-24 win over the Cardinals.

“I think they played very good,” he said. “First quarter was very impressive. To close it out, that's the main thing.

“That's a W and we get closer to the College Football Playoffs, so everything turns right we'll be there once again.”

Dixon was paying particularly close attention to the Notre Dame defensive front and envisioning himself in it one day.

“I think they played outstanding,” he said. “I'll probably fit as a nose, where Howard (Cross) plays right now. I think when he leaves, I'm going to come in and fit his role and dominate the way he's dominating right now.”

Dixon, who was the Irish’s first commit in the Class of 2025 way back in April of 2023, can’t believe how close he is to playing for the Irish.

“It's crazy. A couple years ago, I was committing and now a couple months from now, I'm about to go up there and play ball.

“It's pretty crazy to me and my family. We're blessed and humbled to get this opportunity.”
