Irish Hoops Commit Ryder Frost Ready To Help Notre Dame Win

Ryder Frost‍ was truly grateful for the recruiting process.

It didn’t kick into full gear as quickly for the 2025 Massachusetts swingman as it did for others, but when it did this past spring, it kicked in fast with Frost fielding several major scholarship offers within a matter of hours, including one from Notre Dame.

So, Frost made sure to appreciate all of the opportunities placed in front of him. He made the most of visits he took and the people he met.

“It was a fun process,” he says. “I got to meet a lot of great people, a lot of great coaches. I tried to enjoy it, but I'm excited that I chose my spot and I'm excited to get to work.”

And in the end, that spot for the Phillips Exeter Academy and Middlesex Magic star was in South Bend and committed to Notre Dame a couple weeks ago over offers from schools like Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Virginia Tech among several others.

“It's really relieving,” Frost says. “I'm excited to go to Notre Dame. I'm really excited to get to campus. I'm excited to get there in June right after I graduate. I'm just really excited to go get to work. It's pretty relieving knowing that I'm going to a spot that I'm genuinely excited to go to and learn more about and just get to work with the guys.”

Micah Shrewsberry and his coaching staff made a tremendous impression on Frost throughout the process, especially during last month’s official visit.

“They're all very genuine,” Frost said of the coaches. “They were all very straight-up with me about where they saw me and how I would fit. I just feel like we're very like-minded in that way. I really feel like I connected with all the coaches in a basketball sense, but as people and I think they're just people who I want to be around. They're authentic, they're real and they're just people I want to support myself with.”

Frost was one of four top prospects to choose the Irish in barely a week, joining Brady Koehler, Tommy Ahneman and Jalen Haralson. He talked about his fellow 2025 commits being like-minded as well and like himself, being focused on winning.

Frost is considered one of the best shooters in the entire country, but he’s planning to be more than just a spot-up shooter for the Irish.

“Obviously, I think I can bring a lot of shooting,” he says. “I think I can space the floor. I've been trying to become more of a complete player; handle the ball more, make more of an impact on defense and rebound for my position, guard multiple guys. I feel like I just make the right play.

“Over the spring and summer, playing with Middlesex, just trying to make the right play and contribute to winning. I think that's what those guys are about and what the coaches are about. I think I'm just a guy who'll come in and be able to shoot, be able to make the right play, rebound for my position and just try and contribute to winning.”

There are plenty of reasons Frost chose Notre Dame, but now that he’s chosen the Irish, he’s focused on one thing above all else.

“I just want to go there and win,” he says. “I think it's been a little bit since they've been back to that point.

“I think having a like-minded goal with all the players there now and the guys coming in my class, I think that common goal of going in there and winning and winning now is something that just drew me in. I just want to be part of something bigger than myself and just go there and be a part of that culture.”
