Sports Betting 101 | Play The Boosts

Back again with Week 4 of our new Gambling Blog here on Irish Sports Daily.

Check out previous columns HERE

This is not a Pick Column meant to be an invitation to tail any of these plays. In fact, you probably shouldn’t tail these. And this is DEFINITELY NOT financial advice.

If the plays listed here were any good when these bets were placed, the number and/or price should have moved by now and the bet is probably no longer good at that new number or price.

If you are still able to find the same bet at the same price when you’re reading this, that’s a sign it may not have been a good bet in the first place.

Then why even write this column?

My hope is to offer some insight into the processes that led to these picks, which could help you find profitable picks of your own.

Positive EV Betting is a strategy that involves calculating the Fair Odds for any given game or prop and then finding prices that are more advantageous than those Fair Odds.

Each week, I’ll share some of the +EV plays that I’m on and then add some basic insight that should be helpful to sports bettors.

First, if you’re looking to get into Sports Gambling, but don’t yet have an account and you’re in a state that has BetMGM, you can sign up through our link. You’ll be able to take advantage of one of the very best promotions in the industry today - $1,500 Paid Back In Bonus Bets if your first bet doesn’t win.

We advise you to read all of the terms and conditions of the promotion before signing up and yes, Irish Sports Daily receives a fee from MGM for each customer we refer. If you have any questions, I encourage you to send me a private message.

PLAY THE BOOSTS!!!

So far, we’ve stressed the importance of getting the right price above all else as well as taking advantage of the sign-up promotions sportsbooks offer.

In reality, that will only get you so far.

The sign-up promos are one-time deals and you won’t always be able to find a ton of super profitable prices and they’ll often come in niche markets on nondescript games.

That’s not always so much fun.

Fortunately for us, the sportsbook want us to have fun and they certainly want to keep us playing, so they’re constantly offering “boosts,” which are designed to make bets more attractive to users.

Some of the premade boosts - where the sportsbook gives you an increased price on a bet of their choice - aren’t always as good as they look at first glance. And sometimes it can still be hard to find profitable plays even when offered “Build Your Own Boosts” which give you additional flexibility to choose your own bets with an odds increase.

Boosts are definitely promotional gimmicks, but they aren’t necessarily tricks.

Like the sign-up bonuses, the boosts are designed to get players playing and for the books to win in the long run. But, if we’re patient and disciplined, the boosts ABSOLUTELY offer profitable opportunities and plenty of them.

The only downside of boosts are the limits. Sportsbooks are putting themselves at a disadvantage, so they will only let you bet so much on their boosts, those limits are typically based on how much they value you as a customer.

If using Positive EV strategies, you will consistently find loads of plays that will be massively profitable long-term.

And if you don’t have the time to search out the most optimal plays for the boosts your sportsbooks offer, there are scores of social media accounts that will do the work for you, many for free.

In my opinion, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better follow for such plays than @TheeDegenBoosts.

Seriously, unless you have a gigantic bankroll that literally makes placing any wager under $100 or so a waste of time, you need to be taking advantage of these boosts. There is no better way to build your bankroll after the sign-up promos (except for possibly arbing) than using the boosts.

And, whether you’re new to betting boosts or not, you need to do yourself a favor and follow TDB
