2026 OF Desmond Francis Commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame has prioritized Indiana on the recruiting trail during Shawn Stiffler’s tenure in South Bend and the Fighting Irish landed a crucial commitment on Thursday.
2026 Park Tudor (Ind.) outfielder Desmond Francis announced his verbal pledge to Notre Dame, becoming the eighth commitment in the class. Francis is the No. 156 player in the country, according to Prep Baseball.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is just the second non-pitcher in the 2026 haul as he’ll join top 250 infielder Hudson Brzustewicz, who hails from national powerhouse Orchard Lake St. Mary (Mich.).
As a sophomore, Francis hit .493 in 85 trips to the plate (23 games), and he also scored 26 runs, along with 14 stolen bases. Francis also pitched for Park Tudor, finishing with a record of 4-1, 2.03 ERA, 42 strikeouts, and just 16 walks in 31 innings pitched.
Francis also impressed scouts with his speed this summer as he was timed at 6.43 in the 60-yard dash.
