2026 LB Thomas Davis Jr. Impressed Once Again by Notre Dame
2026 Weddington (N.C.) linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. is starting to become a regular around Notre Dame’s campus as he made his third visit of the year over the weekend.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder made trips in the spring and summer, but he and Notre Dame’s staff wanted him back for a game.
And Saturday’s game didn’t disappoint as Davis enjoyed watching the Irish blowout Florida State but also continued to build on strong relationships within the football program.
“The main message from them was they wanted to keep building our relationships and get me to experience gameday,” Davis stated to ISD following the visit.
Those relationships start with Notre Dame’s defensive staff as Al Golden and Max Bullough have made Davis an early priority. Davis also has ties to the Notre Dame program through the Charlotte area and enjoyed catching up with a few of his friends.
“Talking ball with Coach Bullough and Coach Golden,” Davis said of what he enjoyed on this visit. “And sitting down and eating with my boys Bryce Young, Micah Gilbert and Jack Larsen.”
When it comes to the game itself, Davis was locked in on the defense and Notre Dame’s linebackers. It’d be hard not to be impressed with what the Irish did on Saturday as they held Florida State of 208 yards of offense and recorded eight sacks, which Davis enjoyed watching.
“I thought the linebackers played great and were very versatile,” explained Davis.”They see me fitting in similarly, being able to do a bit of everything.”
The night game experience inside Notre Dame Stadium also left a lasting impression on the four-star prospect.
“The gameday experience was special,” Davis stated. “I could definitely see myself playing in that stadium.”
As for his recruitment, Davis isn’t in a rush to make a decision and will look to make at least one more visit this fall.
“The next step in recruiting will probably be the Ohio State-Michigan game,” said Davis.
