Following multiple trips to South Bend this year, Thomas Davis Jr.‍, has seen enough.

The 2026 North Carolina linebacker just announced his verbal commitment to the Irish.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder gives the Irish three commits in the Class of 2026, joining quarterback Noah Grubbs and receiver Dylan Faison.

Davis’ decision comes fresh off his most recent trip to South Bend for the Irish’s 52-3 win over Florida State. His previous visits came during the offseason and seeing Notre Dame in action was important to him.

“It was great,” Davis told ISD afterward. “I had a great time.

“Game day was great. The atmosphere was pretty cool, being able to see them walk out and stuff.”

Davis has always liked the idea of being coached up by linebackers coach Max Bullough, defensive coordinator Al Golden and head coach Marcus Freeman.

“I feel like they're all so knowledgeable and just know what they're talking about when it comes to, not even just football, but in general,” he said. “They all know exactly what it is they're talking about.”

After seeing the Irish in action this past weekend, he clearly sees the fit for himself on the field.

“I think I'd be great just being versatile and allowing them to put me where they need me,” he said.

While in South Bend, Davis also had the opportunity to reconnect with fellow North Carolinians, Bryce Young, Micah Gilbert and Jack Larsen, who he knew before they headed to Notre Dame.

“It was great being able to catch up with them,” said Davis. “They were just saying they love it and were like, ‘Come here.’”

The son of former Charlotte Panthers and Georgia linebacker Thomas Davis chose the Irish over offers from schools like Clemson, Auburn, Michigan, USC and UCLA among several others.
