Notre Dame WR KK Smith Suffers Clavicle Injury
Notre Dame redshirt freshman receiver KK Smith will not play on Saturday due a clavicle injury, per the latest injury update from the Fighting Irish program.
A source told ISD Smith sustained the injury during practice, and it’s likely Smith will miss several weeks due to the injury.
The 6-foot, 178-pounder has appeared in six games in 2024 and made three receptions for 38 yards. Smith made two receptions for 13 yards against Purdue and then recorded one catch for 25 yards against Stanford.
On the year, Smith has made 90 snaps after coming back from shoulder surgery last fall. Short-term, the loss of Smith hurts Notre Dame’s depth, but it’s also likely an opportunity for freshman Logan Saldate to work at the field as he’s been trending up for a couple months working behind Jaden Greathouse and Jayden Harrison in the slot.
The Frisco (Texas) native was rated as a three-star prospect by ISD’s Jamie Uyeyama coming out of high school.
Uyeyama on Smith’s potential:
“The speed with Smith is undeniable. He has the potential to be another explosive play threat in this class for the Irish and they’ve once again upgraded their team speed with this addition. Smith is very much like the type of kid Baylor has had success with in recent years. Smith is going to have to take some time before he sees the field at Notre Dame, but it will be exciting to see where he takes his game in a couple of years.”
