When a quarterback gets sacked, there is less than a seven percent chance that the offense scores a touchdown on that drive. An average fan probably doesn’t even need that number to know that avoiding sacks is critical to the success of an offense.

Whether that means escaping the rush, getting the ball out quickly to receivers, or throwing the ball away, moving on to the next down without lost yardage makes a massive difference.
