BREAKING | Notre Dame Adding Former UNC Kicker Noah Burnette

There are three things certain in life if you’re Marcus Freeman.

Death, taxes and landing a kicker from the Transfer Portal.

In his first three seasons, Freeman and his staff have taken a graduate transfer at the position and that trend will continue in 2025 as former North Carolina kicker Noah Burnette has signed with the Irish.

Burnette was productive for the Tar Heels as he scored 285 career points and hit 79 percent of his field goal attempts. 2023 was his best season in Chapel Hill as Burnette went 19-of-20 on field goals and hit all 43 of his extra points. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder was named AP Second-Team All-ACC following the 2023 campaign.

As a senior in 2024, the North Carolina native made 15-of-21 field goals, including a career-long 52-yard field goal against Georgia Tech.

During his time for the Tar Heels, Burnette seemed to struggle in the intermediate range of 30-39 yards more than anywhere else on the field as he made 12-of-18 but went 16-19 from 40-49 yards and 2-of-5 on field goals longer than 50 yards.

Burnette will now look to follow in the footsteps of Blake Grupe, Spencer Shrader and Mitch Jeter as all three had strong final seasons in South Bend as graduate transfers. Grupe is still with the Saints and Shrader has bounced around the NFL as a rookie, spending time with the Colts, Chiefs and Jets this season.
