The Back Corner Fade

NOTE:  Mike Kane is a Notre Dame fan writing a weekly column about the lighter side of college football.  

On January 1st, 1989, I was a 14-year-old kid when Notre Dame took down WVU in the National Championship game. I remember seeing the players carrying Lou off the field and looking over at my Dad who had tears in his eyes. This was no small thing. My old man was an Irish-Catholic kid who grew up tough and emotions were simply something that were not shown.
