Marcus Freeman may be good at blocking out the noise from fans and critics, but he’s definitely aware of it. I’m sure he knows that hiring Chris Ash as his defensive coordinator won’t generate the same response that hiring Mike Denbrock did during the last offseason.
I’m also sure he didn’t hire Denbrock because of public relations. He hired him because he thought it was the best person to help Notre Dame win.
