Legend Bey‍ finished last week by adding scholarship offers from the two schools that played for the national title just a couple weeks earlier; Notre Dame and Ohio State.

The Irish offered the 2026 Texas athlete last Wednesday and the Buckeyes followed up on Friday.

The North Forney High School standout learned of the Notre Dame offer from Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough.

“Coach called me and told me that the coaching staff liked my film, they loved the way I played, they loved my game, and they would just love for me to come up there and be able to play with them in the next national championship,” the 5-foot-11, 189-pounder told Irish Sports Daily.

“I was very excited. I felt blessed.”

Bey’s offer sheet also includes schools like Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, Houston, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Michigan State, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Oregon among several others.

Still, the Irish offer caught his attention.

“I just see how great of a team and how good of a championship team that Notre Dame is and the coaching staff and players on the team,” Bey said. “That just made me feel good, to know that I can be a part of something like that.”

McCullough certainly made an impression.

“Great man,” Bey said of McCullough. “He's straight up and honest.”

Bey plays quarterback for his high school squad, but the Irish see him more as a versatile weapon.

“They said Wildcat quarterback, slot, returnman, anywhere that's going to let me be able to help the team,” he said.

“I want to play quarterback, but I'm just trusting God and letting God guide me right.”

Bey is planning to continue talking with Notre Dame.

“Just see where the relationship takes us,” he said. “Maybe take a visit up there.

“I’d like to see what kind of people are up at Notre Dame and the environment, the culture.”

He recently visited TCU and has hopes to visit Ohio State and Oregon soon.

Bey is hoping to make a decision before his spring ball starts, so his recruitment may be accelerated.

“Right now, just whatever school wants me the most, that's who's at the top really,” he said.

Being able to play early will be a big factor in his final decision.
