2026 DE Rodney Dunham Stays In Tight Contact With Notre Dame
Rodney Dunham is excited to have the Class of 2026 take center stage for recruiting.
“I enjoy it,” the 2026 North Carolina edge defender tells Irish Sports Daily.
“I'm getting closer to my senior season and actually going to the school I choose to go to, so everything's been going pretty good.”
The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder has a lengthy list of scholarship offers that includes schools like North Carolina, South Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and Notre Dame among several others.
The Myers Park star’s communication with the Irish is serious.
“I text them about every day,” Dunham says.
He is in regular communication with head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive line assistant coach Nick Sebastian.
“It is normally just normal conversation,” he explains. “I talk to Coach Sebastian a lot. When the conference championships were happening, we were talking about those games, what was going on, and talking about their games.
“They're great people. They're great human beings and they're probably even better coaches.”
Dunham visited South Bend for last spring’s Blue-Gold Game.
“I just really loved it when I went up there,” he says. “I wasn't able to get up there for a game during the season, but I just really liked getting up there when I did go up there. And I do want to go back soon.
“I want to see a game. Honestly, what I liked when I was there, I just liked the school. The people were cool. It was a really pretty campus. Of course, an amazing football program and I just liked how intimate things were.”
He’s also hoping to see schools like Tennessee, South Carolina, Duke and Florida State among others this offseason.
Dunham wants to have a final decision before the start of his senior season, maybe in July.
