Update: 2019 DE Steven Faucheux

2019 Lakota West (Ohio) defensive end Steven Faucheux made his way to South Bend last weekend for his first look at the Notre Dame program. The 6-foot-4, 272-pounder enjoyed himself and is looking forward to hearing more from the Irish.
“It was a good trip,” Faucheux told Irish Sports Daily. “The campus was great, and the atmosphere at the game was great.”
The three-star prospect got to speak with area recruiter and defensive line coach Mike Elston quickly while on the visit.
“I didn’t get to them much at all, but I expected that would happen with everything going on and I am just a 2019,” stated Faucheux. “Coach Elston sat with me for a bit at lunch. Kevin Austin was also at our table, and he was talking with both of us.”
Faucheux wasn’t discouraged by the visit, as Elston will be at Lakota West this week to check on him. If the interest is legit, then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Ohio native back in South Bend.
“I would if they have a strong interest in me,” Faucheux said of if he’d return to South Bend. “Coach Elston said he would be visiting my high school this week. He couldn’t stay long with me on Saturday, but Mr. (Aaryn) Kearney asked if I enjoyed myself and said they would be in touch with me as soon as we were leaving.”
Construction dominates the Notre Dame campus, and Faucheux took note of the facilities but wants to see the finished product.
“The facilities were nice,” Faucheux said. “I only saw the weight room and the indoor facility. It was about the same as most of the top schools I have visited. I want to see what everything looks like when the construction is done.”
As for the Mike Elko’s defense, Faucheux saw a potential fit and was impressed with the defensive line. Jay Hayes popped out to Faucheux, and he believes the strongside end could be a good fit.
“I watched the defensive line mostly,” said Faucheux. “I liked the way No. 93 played. I can see myself in that role as far as style goes.”
