Donivan Moore‍ was a little tied up when he was actually offered a scholarship by Notre Dame, but the 2027 Alabama defensive lineman found out soon enough.

“They talked to my coach and when I came in for workouts, my coaches gave me the news,” the Hueytown High School standout said.

“I was just thrilled because it seems like Notre Dame doesn't come down to the South to really throw offers out. I was just thrilled. It was just a big, exciting moment for me.”

Moore’s offer sheet already included schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, USC and Vanderbilt among others.

Still, the offer from the Irish caught his attention.

“Great tradition, a rich tradition,” Moore said. “Coach (Al) Washington, I feel he's doing good things with the d-line up there. He's just a great coach. I feel like I could play with him in the future.”

Even though he’s only talked with Washington on the phone, he’s got a good feel for him.

“I feel like he'll be a great person,” Moore said. “Very truthful, a man who's going to give it to you straight.”

Moore is hoping to meet him in person in South Bend soon.

“Me and Coach Washington are still trying to make those arrangements right now to try to get up there to Notre Dame,” said Moore, who added he “most definitely” will get to Notre Dame at some point.

“I would like to see what they have for education as well as my major and really just find out could I see myself there for three to four years.”

Moore, who wants to major in Education, has a couple other visits locked in right now.

“March 29th, I have Tennessee and April 5th I have Auburn,” he said.

Colleges have told him the like the speed at which he plays the game.

“What jumps out to them is me getting to the ball across the field, I can chase down the ball and that I strike my opponent as soon as I get off the ball,” he said.

He’s outlined a couple factors that will be key in his final decision.

“Which school will have my major, who I would feel comfortable with living down there for three to four years, getting used to the city and all that.”
