2027 QB Peter Bourque Recaps Weekend Notre Dame Stop
Peter Bourque returned to Notre Dame on Friday and the 2027 Massachusetts quarterback was once again impressed.
“It was great,” Bourque told Irish Sports Daily. “I loved it.
“We got to see the spring practice and it was good seeing two of my former teammates, Guerby (Lambert) and Boubacar (Traore). That was good.”
The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder played with Lambert and Traore at Catholic Memorial, but transferred to Tabor Academy last offseason.
While in South Bend, Bourque also had the opportunity visit with head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli.
“Just taking me through their process, letting me know that nothing's happening for anyone at this time,” Bourque explained. “In May, they're going to make their rounds and evaluate. It seems like I'm in a pretty good spot. I've just got to keep going.”
Bourque currently has offers from schools like Penn State, Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and North Carolina among several others, but isn’t put off by not having one from Notre Dame yet.
He acknowledged that he’d probably feel differently if the Irish had offers out to several other 2027 quarterbacks, but he understands their process right now.
“Everyone's in the same situation, so I'm completely fine with it,” he said.
The Irish have certainly let him know that he’s high on their board.
“They like my playing style and they like my athleticism and how the stuff I run fits with the Notre Dame offense,” he said. “When I was in with Coach Gino, he was showing me some clips of my highlight tape and he would compare it to the stuff Notre Dame runs and just showed the similarities of how I would fit in their offense.”
And he’s high on the coaches as well.
“All great coaches and all great people,” he said. “I'm very impressed.”
Bourque also enjoyed taking in an Irish spring practice.
“It was impressive; very fast-paced,” he said. “I was impressed with the quarterbacks. There are three of them it seems who are battling and they all seem to be at a very high level.”
Bourque is also familiar with Notre Dame freshman quarterback Blake Hebert because they share a trainer in Mike McCarthy of M2 QB Academy.
“I work out with him sometimes. It was definitely cool. Blake's definitely elevated a lot since being up at Notre Dame. Size-wise, he looks like a monster. It was great to watch him.”
