South Bend native JR Konieczny is looking for a new home for his final season of college basketball after four seasons with the Notre Dame program.
The 6-foot-7 guard has entered the Transfer Portal after appearing in 32 games this season. Konieczny averaged 4.3 ppg and 2.8 rpg, which was down from his 2023-24 campaign where he put up 7.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg.
Konieczny’s career-high came this season when he scored 17 points against Virginia in 2023. He pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds twice as a junior.
The former St. Joseph star will end his Notre Dame career with 374. points, 234 rebounds and 46 assists.
Konieczny, a 2021 McDonald’s All-America Game nominee, chose the Irish over offers from Butler, Creighton, Iowa and Valpo.
It’s worth noting Konieczny’s younger brother, Chase, is a 2025 recruit and currently holds offers from Cal Poly and Toledo. The younger Konieczny became the second player (Markus Burton) in Saint Joseph County history to top 2,000 career points and passed his older brother’s career mark of 1,996 points.
