Michael Griffin was on the phone with Notre Dame Director of Recruiting Carter Auman and linebackers coach Max Bullough on St. Patrick’s Day, when they delivered him the news.
The 2027 North Carolina linebacker was receiving an offer from the Irish.
“They were telling me they liked my film and stuff,” Griffin recalls. “They think I could be more than what my film shows. They were just talking about me and their program.”
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder was fired up.
“I was excited,” he says. “I was happy. It is a big school. They just went to the national championship. That's big and they're built upon defense and that's what I play. So it was exciting.”
Griffin’s offer sheet also includes schools like Virginia Tech, Florida State and Indiana among others.
The West Charlotte High School standout is hoping to make it to South Bend soon.
“I need to get up there for a visit,” he says. “Get to see the program, see how they practice, talk to the coaches, build some more relationships.”
He doesn’t have a date in mind just yet, but hopes it’ll be within the next few months.
Griffin doesn’t have any other visits locked in yet either, but says “they’re coming up.”
“I want to go to Florida State,” he adds. “I want to get down to Indiana and probably Vanderbilt.”
It’s early, but Griffin has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“Somewhere my family could watch me play,” he says. “Somewhere that is not too far away from my family and playing time and education.”
Griffin plans to study Business in college.
