2027 S Khalil Terry Gets First Look At Notre Dame
Khalil Terry made his first trip to Notre Dame for this past weekend’s Blue-Gold Game and the one thing the 2027 California safety is sure of afterward is that he’ll be back.
“It went pretty good,” Terry told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “I like how they competed.”
The Tustin High School star didn’t get the complete picture of the University.
“I didn't really get to see too much, but I just got to see how they use their players,” the 6-foot, 185-pounder said.
“In the secondary, they were having their corner go to safety and the safety would go down and cover. I liked how they moved their guys around.”
Terry committed to Michigan State back in December, but colleges have continued to pursue him heavily. In the last few months alone, he’s added offers from USC, UCLA, Oregon, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and Notre Dame.
The Irish grabbed his attention immediately with their offer, which is why he made the trek to South Bend.
“They're just coming back off of a great season, so I just had to go see what was over there,” he said.
While in South Bend, he had the opportunity to speak with Irish defensive backs coach Mike Mickens.
“He said how Notre Dame is bigger than football and how it will set you up for the rest of your life,” Terry said of Mickens.
Terry has at least one more visit on deck this spring.
“I'm going to Arkansas this week and then I think that's about it for the rest of spring,” he said.
He will hit the road again in the summer and expects to return to South Bend then.
“I'll probably go back in the summer to a camp or something and spend some more time with the coaches,” he said.
As Terry works through the remainder of the process and looks to get to a final decision, he has a couple of factors that he’s looking for in a school.
“Just being surrounded by good people. I want to be surrounded by good people and winning.”
