Former Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison will return to the field on April 21 for his first public workout since undergoing hip surgery in October.

The 6-foot, 193-pounder will showcase his skills just days before the start of Thursday’s NFL Draft.

“I’m healthy,” Morrison said during Notre Dame’s Pro Day, putting to rest any lingering concerns about his recovery.

Morrison’s workout will take place at his alma mater, Brophy Prep (Ariz.)

While this marks his first on-field appearance in months, Morrison has stayed active behind the scenes, meeting with several NFL teams ahead of Monday’s session.

“In regards to meeting with teams, I have been doing the Zooms, the 30 visits and some of the meetings at the Combine,” explained Morrison. “We haven’t worked out because that has been on the agenda with teams and I. They know what I can do, so it’s been good.”

The upcoming workout will give Morrison the chance to prove he’s fully healthy and to remind teams why he was once considered a Top 15 pick heading into the 2024 season.

“The biggest thing is doing football drills,” Morrison stated. “At the end of the day, on April 24th, when I get drafted, I’m going to be asked to guard some of the best receivers in the country and the world. That’s what I’m focused on. Being out there and taking my game to the next level to be out there and eliminate that receiver.”

Morrison has also been preparing for the all-important athletic testing that teams value highly during the pre-draft process.

“I’m not the first person who has to do it and I’m not going to be the last,” explained Morrison. “That’s the name of the game. That’s what we have to do. All the guys who have come before me have done this. It’s part of the process. It is what it is.”

Still, Morrison believes his on-field performance speaks louder than any workout numbers.

In 2.5 seasons at Notre Dame, the Arizona native tallied 84 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, 27 passes defended and nine interceptions against some of the best receivers in college football.

“I think it’s simple,” stated Morrison. “For me, you have to look at who I’ve gone against and what I’ve done. Coming into a school like Notre Dame, I’ve played against so many different body types. At the end of the day, you have to watch my film. I think my film speaks for itself and the people I’ve gone against. I truly believe I eliminate guys from the game.”

Morrison isn’t being boastful. It’s reality.

“I eliminate guys on the field and I do it versus the best,” said Morrison. “Look at the guys in the NFL who are excelling at a high level and watch when I played them. Not to take anything away from their game, I’m just saying this is what I do. I’ve done it from when I was 18 all the way until I’m 21 years old. That’s what I do.”
