Jack Brown‍ spent two days at Notre Dame this week and the 2027 Missouri athlete plans to be back in South Bend again this year.

“It was good,” the Francis Howell High School star told Irish Sports Daily, adding that the coaching staff and the campus stuck out more than anything.

“We went through a campus tour. We saw the church, saw the Grotto, saw facilities, all of it, the whole deal. I went and talked to offensive and defensive coaches.”

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder could be a tight end or an edge defender at the next level. He has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Missouri, Kansas State, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M among several others.

The Irish don’t seem sure themselves where they see Brown fitting and the offensive and defensive staffs are both angling to get him in their rooms.

“It's good,” Brown said of the tug of war within the Notre Dame coaching staff. “You want to feel wanted.”

He met with Irish offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Mike Denbrock and assistant tight ends coach Harris Bivin.

“They just said they love my tape and they want me as a player,” Brown said of Denbrock and Bivin.

On the other side of the ball, he met with defensive line coach Al Washington, defensive line assistant Nick Sebastian and defensive coordinator Chris Ash.

“They said the same thing, basically,” Brown said.

“They just want me as a player offensively or defensively. Obviously, the coaches want me on their respective sides.”

For his part, Brown doesn’t really care.

“No preference at all,” he said.

He also had the opportunity to sit down with head coach Marcus Freeman while in town.

“I stopped by his office,” Brown explained. “He just talked about the importance of academics and what makes Notre Dame, Notre Dame.”

Brown’s first trip to South Bend give him some insight into what the coaches are like.

“They just seem like great people who care about you more as a person over a player,” he said. “Even though the player side is very important, they care about you more than just your football abilities.”

Brown doesn’t have any other visits to any other schools locked in yet and isn’t even sure which schools he will visit just yet.

“None as of now, but that could change,” he said.

He did allow that he hopes to get back to South Bend this summer and/or for a game in the fall.

Notre Dame certainly made a major impression.

“I loved it. I thought the campus was awesome, the staff and everyone was awesome. Next time, hopefully I get to talk to some players, maybe Jeremiyah Love or something because he's from St. Louis, so that'd be cool.”
