If Ayden Pouncey had any unanswered questions about Notre Dame, they were answered during a visit to South Bend earlier this week.
And today, the 2026 Florida defensive back announced his commitment to the Irish, over offers from several schools, including LSU, Georgia and Michigan.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder from Winter Park High School gives the Irish 12 verbal commits in the Class of 2026 and the second in the secondary, joining Tennessee’s Chaston Smith.
With his size, speed and athleticism, Pouncey could play cornerback or safety in college, but we believe he’s being brought in as a corner for Notre Dame.
The name will be familiar for Irish fans.
Pouncey’s older brother, Jordan, was a receiver commit of Notre Dame’s back in 2016 before decommitting and eventually landing at Florida.
Initially, Pouncey planned on taking official visits before making a decision and actually had trips scheduled to Miami, Syracuse, LSU and Notre Dame with Michigan as a possible official as well.
But after one more unofficial visit earlier this week, he realized those plans were unnecessary.
Pouncey made a round of unofficial visits this spring; hitting Georgia, LSU and Michigan in addition to Notre Dame.
Coming out of those trips, it was clear Pouncey was nearing a final decision.
But what wasn’t immediately clear was just how high the Irish moved up his list with that visit. Some sources were unsure of how much Pouncey enjoyed himself.
But by the time he returned to South Bend for another visit earlier this week, it was obvious the Irish were in an extremely strong spot to land him.
And, before the week was over, they did.
