2027 DL KAdrian Redmond Eyeing Texas Powers, Keeping Notre Dame in the Mix
KAdrian Redmond, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman from DeSoto High School (Texas), is quickly emerging as one of the nation’s most coveted interior prospects in the 2027 class.
This spring, Redmond gained crucial insight into several in-state programs with unofficial visits to TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.
Most recently, he visited Austin for the second time this year and came away impressed with what the Longhorns have to offer after watching a scrimmage.
“It was great,” stated Redmond. “If I went here, I know what I’d be doing and how I’d become a great player, person, and have great character.”
Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker has made a strong impression, not only with his coaching style but also through the relationship he's built with Redmond since offering him in January.
“It’s excellent,” Redmond said of Baker’s recruiting style. “He’s more than a dad. He goes above and beyond. He does everything he can and that’s just what it is and what I’m looking for in a school - great connections and great coaches. He has all of it.”
While Redmond has a strong preference to stay close to home, it hasn’t stopped national powers from entering the race.
Notre Dame extended an offer on Pot of Gold Day and the Irish have already made a significant impression.
“Right now, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and Notre Dame,” Redmond said of what schools have his attention. “I don’t mind leaving. If I had to choose, I’d stay home.”
What has Al Washington and Notre Dame in the race with in-state programs?
It’s simple. Notre Dame develops talent and Redmond knows he’ll be put in a position for success.
“They’re a tight school,” stated Redmond. “They get stuff done. They have a game plan and they execute it 100 percent perfectly. That’s a great thing to have.”
Redmond hopes to get to South Bend and Houston this summer, but no plans have been locked in.
“Not yet, but it’s in the making,” said Redmond. “That’s all up to my trainer.”
