Notre Dame Drops In On 2027 Texas DB Jerry Outhouse Jr.
Notre Dame made it a point to check in on Jerry Outhouse during the Evaluation Period, so the Irish sent defensive backs assistant Jevaughn Codlin to North Crowley High School last week.
“He just wanted to see me in person,” the 2027 Texas defensive back told Irish Sports Daily.
Through communication leading up to and after Codlin’s visit, the Irish have made their message clear.
“They really want to build a relationship,” Outhouse said of the Irish. “They're looking forward to proving that to me and investing in me.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder picked up his Notre Dame offer during March’s Pot of Gold Day push. Outhouse’s offer sheet also includes schools like Ole Miss, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona State, TCU, Texas Tech and South Carolina among others.
College coaches have told Outhouse they like the attitude he plays with and his athleticism.
“Me attacking the ball, my length, how I can go get the ball in the air at any moment,” he said of what coaches have told him. “They like my length and how fluid my hips are.”
He was excited to see the Irish make the trip down to check in on him.
“It means a lot,” he said. “They're trying to build a relationship with me to see if this is a place that I want to be in the future.”
The Irish have had his attention since they offered.
“I just love the gold, to be honest,” he said. “I haven't seen a lot of things like the stadium and all that. I just know that they were in the National Championship and all that.”
The Notre Dame coaches have made positive impressions on Outhouse so far.
“They're really all cool, to be honest,” he said. “They love trying to build a relationship, trying to get me out there. But they really can't talk to me right now because of the NCAA, but they're doing the best they can.”
He’s looking forward to learning more about Notre Dame soon.
“I'm going to try to get out there soon to see the facility and get to a camp,” he said. “I want to see the stadium and the culture and the population.”
He’d also like to get out to see Tennessee, Ohio State and some other schools this summer.
He has plenty of time before he needs to make a decision, but Outhouse has already isolated one key factor.
“Relationships, how you build a relationship with me. If you don't have a tight relationship with me, I don't know if I can trust you when I'm on the field or off the field.”
