Elite ATH Dallas Golden Ready To Get Started At Notre Dame
Dallas Golden committed to Notre Dame over a year ago.
The elite 2025 Florida athlete is now just weeks away from enrolling in South Bend.
“I'm definitely excited,” Golden told Irish Sports Daily recently.
The former Berkeley Prep star is most looking forward to creating bonds with his teammates.
“Just building relationships with the team, just having brothers, growing a brotherhood throughout the team and probably also just playing really,” he said. “That's what I'm most excited for.”
Golden says the group has been building those bonds all along, including when several of them reconvened in South Bend last month for the Blue-Gold Game.
“We definitely have,” Golden said. “For the spring game, we definitely built that bond. But even before that, we always talked, stayed in contact, checked up on each other, and made sure everybody was good.”
Golden is convinced the group is going to bring plenty to the program.
“I think we're going to bring in hardworking guys who can play football,” he said. “We're going to bring in complete football players. We're all competitive. We're always going to compete no matter what. We're going to work and we're going to work hard. We're going to do whatever the coach needs for us to do for the team.”
Golden was a star on both sides of the ball - and special teams - in high school, but is being brought in to play corner for the Irish. For his part, he’s ready to do whatever he’s asked.
“Just doing whatever's best for the team,” he said. “For me, being able to strive where Coach puts me, so that's really why I'm most looking forward to. Just doing my part.”
In the meantime, Golden has been preparing himself for the next steps, including some X’s and O’s breakdowns with Irish secondary coach Mike Mickens.
“Me and Coach Mickens went through a couple zooms this offseason,” he said. “We've just been going through the playbook and formations and stuff.
“It's a little different, but I feel like the way my high school, Berkeley Prep, sets it up, they prepare us for the college-type playbook. Our playbook kind of relates to the Notre Dame playbook. The same type of calls, same type of scheme almost. Berkeley Prep helps that transition with the playbook.”
Golden has also been putting in work physically.
“I've been conditioning, weightlifting, doing position drills, the same ole, same ole. Just getting that work.
“I don't have any goals. Just getting bigger, faster, and stronger really.”
One thing is clear, one of the most exciting prospects in the Irish’s 2025 class is excited.
