2026 TE Preston Fryzel "Very Excited" By Notre Dame Offer
Preston Fryzel had a list earlier this month, but that list has since expanded for the 2026 Ohio tight end, at least by one.
Fryzel released a Top 5 at the start of the month that included Iowa, Pitt, Duke, Minnesota and Cincinnati.
After a showcase at Central Catholic High School in Toledo last week, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder picked up offers from Miami and Indiana.
On Wednesday, he added one from Notre Dame.
“It definitely shakes things up,” Fryzell said of the Irish offer. “The Top 5 was more to show who's showing the most love right now. They definitely get in the mix.”
Fryzell learned of the offer during a phone call with Notre Dame general manager Mike Martin.
“He came and saw me at practice last week,” Fryzell explained. “He said he was going to check out my film with Coach (Mike) Denbrock and then get back to me.
“They went back and checked my film and they said they needed a receiving guy, a guy who can go out there and make plays and that's why they offered.”
Fryzel said he was “very excited” by the offer.
“They've produced a lot of tight ends in the past and they also went to the College Football Playoffs last year, so they're obviously going to compete for a national championship,” he said.
His contact with the Irish at this point is still new, but he’s hoping to make a trip to South Bend soon, either later this month or early next.
“Seeing how they use the tight ends is probably the main thing,” Fryzel said of what he’d like to see on the visit. “And then just getting around Coach Denbrock and the entire coaching staff.”
If the unofficial “feels right,” he’d take an official.
He already has officials set to Duke, Pitt and Iowa.
“Duke is the 6th of June. Pitt's the week after that and Iowa's the 20th,” he said.
He plans to have a decision sometime this summer, but hasn’t set a firm date yet.
“The timeline I put on myself is before my first game.”
