Top 2027 DT Jeremiah Williams Enjoys First Look At Notre Dame
Al Washington’s trip to the West Coast earlier this spring paid off as Notre Dame’s defensive line coach was able to score a return visit from one of his top targets in the Class of 2027, California defensive tackle Jeremiah Williams, for Friday’s Irish Invasion.
“Coach Al took his time to come out to my place up in Cali at my school and just check me out, put some eyes on me and he invited me,” Williams told Irish Sports Daily afterward.
“This was an invite-only camp, so of course I had to show him back the love and come back out here and show him what I could do.”
And Williams is glad he did.
“It was beautiful, man,” he said. “I got some great work with Coach Al and it was great competition, so it was a great day.
“I showed them how versatile I am and how coachable I am. Whatever they told me to do, I did it 100 percent with all effort and I proved myself and did my stuff.”
The Tustin High School standout landed his offer from the Irish back on St. Patrick’s Day. He also has offers from schools like USC, Washington, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Miami and Penn State among many others.
Washington and Notre Dame’s staff offered the 6-foot-2, 310-pounder some things to focus on during the event.
“Working on my rip and ripping up and finishing out the play so I don't have to worry about the person being on me,” said Williams.
He appreciated the Irish’s coaching style.
“I loved it, man,” said Williams. “They showed me great energy and a whole lot of work ethic that they have, so I loved it.”
Even though it was a camp experience, Williams got an early impression for the University and the program.
“I have a great feeling for them after this whole camp experience,” he said. “It felt like I was already working out with the family, so it was a great feeling.
Williams isn’t exactly sure what’s next, but is hoping to return.
“For sure coming out to a game and I'm hoping Coach comes out to see me in California, but I'm for sure going to try to come and catch a game,” he said.
Prior to the trip to South Bend, Williams stopped at Ohio State.
