Evan Jacobson‍ has already made some major decisions with regard to his recruitment.

Earlier this week, the 2026 Iowa tight end rearranged his official visit schedule, cancelling officials planned to Auburn and Florida State and moving up officials to Notre Dame and Iowa State.

“I'm just trying to narrow things down and I really know where my head's at with a couple of schools now,” he said.

Jacobson, who has already taken officials to Texas A&M, Missouri and Stanford, will be in South Bend for his official this weekend.

“I didn't want to waste any extra time and resources or anything like that, so I just decided, ‘Let's just move it up and make things happen this weekend and then take my midweek to Iowa State and be done,’” he said.

“I'm super fired up. This will only be my second time on campus, but just being back around the people and everything there and then really going into depth on everything about Notre Dame.”

Jacobson’s first visit to campus came back in April and he’s looking to reconnect with head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and assistant tight ends coach Harris Bivin.

“Like I said, I've only been there one time, so there's quite a bit to see,” Jacobson said. “I want to see all the facilities, see all that type of stuff, and then really want to sit down and just meet with the coaching staff, Coach Denbrock , Coach Bivin, all that type of stuff, talk about how they see me fitting in and the development plan there.”

The pitch from Denbrock and Bivin has been a strong one.

“They've been trying to get me to shut it down and commit and all that type of stuff,” Jacobson acknowledged. “They've been recruiting me super hard and they've kind of told me that I'm their guy and they want me to start it off and get a tight end commit.

“It's a blessing. It's amazing. Truthfully, a program with that much history at the tight end position and what they've done there, it's super cool.”

Jacobson has high opinions of Denbrock and Bivin.

“I think they're great guys,” he said. “Coach Denbrock is super cool. He is awesome to talk to. I think he has so much knowledge about the game that I can learn and that's something that really excites me.

“Then, Coach Bivin, same thing. He's another really super cool guy. I enjoy talking with him a ton.”

Jacobson said he’s expecting a final decision to come sometime toward the later half of July.
