2027 DL Deven Robertson High on Notre Dame After Return Visit
2027 Oak Grove (Miss.) defensive lineman Deven Robertson wasted no time getting to Notre Dame following an offer in the winter.
The 6-foot-3, 304-pounder returned to campus last week for Irish Invasion.
Robertson has developed a strong relationship with defensive line coach Al Washington and assistant Nick Sebastian and their consistent push has made a lasting impression.
“The coach,” stated Robertson on why he returned to Notre Dame. “They've been treating me like a priority. Notre Dame is one of those schools that has a chance to compete for the national championship every season. That's great.”
Robertson was part of one of the deepest defensive line groups the Irish have hosted at camp and appreciated the high-level competition, especially lining up against Notre Dame offensive line commits Sullivan Garvin and Ben Nichols.
“They had great competition at the camp,” Robertson said. “They had some very big offensive linemen to go against. They could use their hands, so that was great.”
Another reason the Mississippi native wanted to return to Notre Dame was the opportunity to be coached by Washington.
”It was great,” Robertson said. “They coach fast. Great coaching.”
The two also connected after the camp during a cookout, where Washington continued to make it clear Robertson was wanted at Notre Dame.
“He was telling me how bad he wants me up here and how I can fit into the Notre Dame defensive scheme,” explained Robertson. “They see me as a nose. I’ll play anything.”
Robertson will visit Colorado, Florida, and Texas A&M later this summer, but it appears Notre Dame is setting a high bar.
“It's very different,” Robertson said of Notre Dame. “It's hard to explain, but it’s very different. It's a great difference.
“Notre Dame is one of those top schools. They're at the top.”
The Irish program also matches what Robertson is looking for in a future program.
“Great education,” said Robertson. “Do I feel at home here? That's one of the reasons and development. I want to be developed here, so that's what I look for when I come here.”
