After multiple visits to South Bend - both before and after his decision to commit to the Irish - Thomas Davis Jr., returned to Notre Dame this past weekend for his official visit.
“It was awesome,” the 2026 North Carolina linebacker told Irish Sports Daily afterward.
“We had a great time spending it with the players and just enjoying being on campus, enjoying being with the coaches.”
Being around so many future teammates was the highlight for the Weddington High School standout.
“Just to be able to have a ton of good commits together and spend time with guys who are on the team as well and just really be a part of the program,” he said.
Davis was also in the ear of the uncommitted players in town.
“All of them,” he said when asked who he spoke to.
But Davis acknowledged having in-depth conversations with wide receivers Devin Fitzgerald and Kaydon Finley. Like Davis, both Fitzgerald and Finley have fathers who had significant NFL careers.
Davis believes Notre Dame is particularly appealing to young players with their pedigrees.
“Having parents who've gone through it and know about this game, we have that in common,” said Davis. “Notre Dame speaks volumes about being a young athlete and not knowing much about life outside of football. Being able to come to a school like this where that's such a big thing and play the best football in the country is huge.”
Davis also had a general message to all of the uncommitted targets.
“You come to a place like this for a reason, to be the best on and off the field,” he said. “It's not forever everyone, obviously, so if they make that decision, it's special.”
He’s convinced at least some of the uncommitted recruits got the message.
“Just in general with all the recruits there, this weekend will definitely prove successful,” he said.
After being offered by his father’s alma mater, Georgia, earlier in the spring, Davis took an official visit to Athens earlier this month. But he always maintained a strong commitment to the Irish and that’s even stronger after this weekend.
He said he won’t take any other visits to any other schools.
“I'm locked in.”
