Mikahi Allen‍ wasn’t in South Bend for Irish Invasion, but the 2027 New Jersey linebacker was in town for another camp a couple days later and Allen performed well enough to land an offer from Notre Dame while he was on campus.

“It just meant a lot, especially from a big program like that,” Allen told Irish Sports Daily. “I was just very blessed and excited.”

He didn’t just leave with a scholarship offer either, the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder left with a better understanding of Notre Dame.

“I actually saw the whole campus,” he said. “I saw the apartments, I rode around campus. I got to see the church and then of course I did the camp. I saw the football facilities and the stadium too.”

The Don Bosco Prep star was impressed.

“It was a really good impression,” he said. “It just reminded me of a bigger version of my school. It was a very peaceful, quiet campus.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and linebackers coach Max Bullough also left strong impressions.

“I really love the coaches, especially Coach Freeman,” said Allen. “He was a really chill, cool dude, especially since he comes from a linebacker background.

“Plus, being coached by Coach Bullough, you could tell he really has a lot of passion for the game, and he's really passionate and loves the sport and just loves coaching.”

Allen’s offer sheet also includes schools like Auburn, Boston College, Florida State, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin among others.

Allen has also made stops at Ohio State, Illinois, Syracuse and Rutgers. He’s hoping to visit schools like Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama in the future.

He said he “definitely” wants to return to South Bend and in the meantime will keep in touch with the staff.

“Honestly, just to continue building a relationship and see if it's the best fit for me, and if I see myself going there for the next three to four years.”

That’s what Allen will be evaluating when he’s looking at colleges.

“Just do I see myself fitting the program, how the coaches treat the players. Also, can the coaches help me build the future outside of football, God-willing, if football doesn't work out? Just those types of things and how the players treat each other too.”
